I was late to the party with Alice in Chains, missing Facelift and those early EPs completely. I missed Dirt at first as well. When it came out, my old band Dear Dead Delila was still an ongoing proposition, about 3 weeks away from releasing lanvorehareetipurtempseewastase.xyzinfo released the album, did a lot of gigs, replaced the guitarist with the same guitarist we had replaced him with the first time we replaced him.

Alice in Chains Dirt. classic. Review by Muse USER March (5 counting STP) has released at least one album and made their names known, and yet, the best hasn’t been unleashed. Until a little unassuming word makes its true presence known: Dirt. the impeccable vocal range of Staley on the underrated gem Rain When I Die.

Album Rating: "I think the best songs on tripod are just as good as anything here (Sludge Factory, Shame in You, God Am, Over Now)" Those are all very good songs, but they're not close to the songs on Dirt. Definitely not in the same league as songs like Rain When I Die or .

Dirt is Alice in Chains' major artistic statement and the closest they ever came to recording a flat-out masterpiece. It's a primal, sickening howl from the depths of Layne Staley's heroin addiction, and one of the most harrowing concept albums ever recorded. Not every song on Dirt is explicitly about heroin, but Jerry Cantrell's solo-written contributions (nearly half the album) effectively.

Album Rating: "In Utero might be better than all of them" In Utero is undoubtedly better than Nevermind and Superunknown (Badmotorfinger is my favorite Soundgarden tbh) but I wouldnt take it over Dirt. DoofDoof March 25th
